Hello!
We are Randy and Marie, and we would like to thank you for your interest in our lives. We feel honored that you have chosen to learn about us and make a compassionate decision on the family you want your child to become a part of. Although we could never imagine the difficult journey you are taking, we would love to help make your choice to place your child with our family a comforting one. As you read about us we hope to give you a glimpse of the immense amount of love and compassion we share with each other and our son Cole, feelings we would like to share with you and your child.
About Us~
We first crossed paths in college as Penn State students. We fell in love and found that our lives were not complete with out each other. We got in engaged in February of 1992, and were married in the presence of family our good friends 13 years ago on June 19, 1993. We were fortunate to share the blessed event with Marie's grandparents as they celebrated 50 years of marriage! On February 23 2004, we became the parents of our beautiful baby boy, Cole, through the miracle of adoption!
Why We Want to Adopt Again~
As young newlyweds we knew that we wanted to begin to expand our family. We also knew it was important to take the time to become a strong couple and find our individual niches in life to contribute positively to our children lives. After many disappointments of trying to conceive on our own, we sought the assistance of an infertility doctor where we began our quest to become pregnant. After a final year of no success, we reached the decision that getting pregnant was no longer important to us… becoming parents was! We embraced adoption wholly, and in February of 2004, we were blessed with the birth of our son Cole, through the loving sacrifice of his birthmother. Being Cole’s parents has been an incredible experience, one that is well beyond anything we could have imagined, and we treasure each and every day with him. Now after two years as Cole’s parents, we would like nothing more than to share our life with another child, while at the same time bringing a sibling relationship into our family, something we feel is tremendously important for both Cole and a newborn child. Raised in families of four and three siblings, we know the immeasurable value of having brothers and sisters. To have an opportunity to raise two children close in age would be a true blessing for us and the children.
About Randy~
Randy is a wonderful, loving, and caring man. He graduated from Penn State with a BS in Mathematics. He has been working at the same company for 13 years and currently is a Data Analyst. Randy is an active sports enthusiast who plays soccer, volleyball, golf, and roots for the Eagles, Penn State and Flyers over the winter months, but his greatest passion in life is being a dad! He looks forward to every day as a dad to share his interests with Cole and more importantly to learn Cole’s so that he can offer both the support and encouragement needed to pursue those interests. Randy is a positive role model and is looked up to by his nephews, Joshua and Aiden, with whom he spends a lot of time playing games and sports.
About Marie~
Marie is a wonderful, caring person who goes out of her way to do things for others. She has a lot of love and support to offer and is an excellent mother. Marie also graduated from Penn State with an Associate in Math and Science. She is currently attending DeSales University in pursuit of her BS degree in Psychology. Marie resigned from her job two years ago to pursue her dream of being a full-time mom. In doing so, she has witnessed Cole’s every developmental achievement including his first words, his first steps and everything in between. Her love, care and support for Cole has been amazing to witness. The results have been obvious… Cole is a very happy, content and healthy little boy, and Marie is an extremely proud and thrilled mom. Prior to Cole’s birth, Marie enjoyed working with children over the years from coaching little league, to being a part of the "Big Brothers/Big Sisters" program and other community activities. She loves being outdoors whether it is playing sports, walking the dog, or maintaining her gardens.
About Cole~
Cole has been a real blessing, and we are beyond incredibly fortunate to have and love him. He loves to play with his cousins, friends and his best buddy Ogar. He especially enjoys bath time, playing with his cars, running around outside, playing basketball, walking through the woods, and banging on his drums. Cole enjoys visits to our friends who have children for him to play with and learn from, and we look forward to enrolling him in a play group to allow him to expand socially. Just as we cherish every moment with him, our extended families have welcomed Cole with open arms and can’t wait for another baby to love and spoil! We are looking forward to having our children close in age so they can be best friends as they grow. We know Cole would be a wonderful big brother to a baby brother or sister.
Our Home~
Our 3 bedroom cozy but spacious ranch is located in a beautiful country setting just a few miles from the Bear Creek Ski Resort in Northeast Pennsylvania. We are in the process of renovating the basement into a large family/recreational room. Our home is situated on nearly 7 acres of land with much of that wooded making for a very natural and peaceful environment. Although located in a rural area, we're only 2-3 miles from the nearest town, home of our doctor, pharmacy, stores, restaurants, and schools. We are part of the East Penn School District, one of the best in the Lehigh Valley, and where Randy went to school as a boy. We share our love and home with our gentle German Shepherd, Ogar, and our cat, Zeke. They are all people friendly and have taken to Cole very nicely (even with all of Cole’s curiosity especially when it comes to animals’ tails!).
Our Fun Times~
We both love nature and the outdoors. We enjoy landscaping and gardening and look forward to the long days of summer to enjoy our favorite activities such as camping, boating, hiking and picnicking. We both enjoy playing sports and going to our nephews sporting events. During the summer, we attend several local festivals where we are able to enjoy music, entertainment, and foods, and we also usually plan one or two trips to local amusement parks. During the winter, we love to take Ogar and Cole out for long walks after a fresh snow fall, go snow tubing, or enjoy indoor activities such as going bowling or heading out for dinner and a movie. Many times these activities are shared with friends and/or family who share our interests. We try to vacation every year whether it be going to the shore, a long camping excursion, or an extended visit with more distant relatives or just going to some place we’ve never been before. We look forward to sharing these activities and experiences with our children which will make them that much more memorable.
Our Families~
Randy's family all live within 5 miles from us. We spend a good deal of time with Randy's father working on home projects together and the five of us often share dinners together or casual times together sitting around and talking. Even more time has been spent with them the past year as they relish the role of being Cole’s grandparents. We also spend a lot of time with Randy's sister, her husband and our nephew Joshua on the weekends. Randy also has two step-sisters, one being the mother of our nephew, 3 year old Aiden, and new niece, Charliz. With most of Randy’s family living closeby, we often gather for Sunday dinners, birthday celebrations and picnics. Marie's parents live only a couple hours from our house. Marie has 2 sisters, one of them lives with her husband in California and the other is only 15 minutes from us. In addition to sharing the holidays with Marie’s family, we make several trips to their house (as they do to ours) throughout the year whether it is for a family picnic, birthday celebration, Penn State football game or just a weekend visit. Marie also frequently visits her grandparents who live closeby. Since Marie’s family is slightly more spread out than Randy’s, we occasionally arrange an afternoon lunch in a central location for the whole family where we meet up not only with her immediate family but extended family as well including aunts, uncles and cousins. For the second year in a row, Christmas was at our home and Marie’s entire family made the trip. Having all of them for a few days throughout the holidays to share Thanksgiving and Christmas with Cole made it wonderful and very memorable holidays.
Our Faith~
Marie was raised with a very religious Catholic background, attending St. John's Catholic Church. Randy was raised in a Lutheran church and was actively involved in Sunday school as a child. We are raising Cole as a Christian, and look forward to sharing our love of God and our beliefs with our new child too. We plan to enroll Cole into the children's programs that are offered through our church.
Open Adoption~
We choose to view adoption as a form of hope for everyone involved. After exploring the various types of adoption, we feel that we can be flexible to accommodate the needs and desires of the birthparents. We currently share an open adoption with Cole’s birthmother and her family through letters and photos and occasional visits, and we plan to have an honest and open relationship with our children about their adoption. We would welcome the opportunity to share letters and photos and occasional visits with one or both birthparents for this adoption too. The interest of the child is our primary concern, and we feel that this kind of relationship would offer the most stable and comfortable environment for their development. Although we are currently pursuing the adoption of a second child at this time, we would consider the adoption of twins and may consider the adoption of another child within a few years.
